Back when I started blogging on Wordpress at the O.G. 812filmreviews, I’d always write up more reviews than I published. Mostly because when you’re just beginning you’re trying to review everything (but you really shouldn’t release everything). The documentary Love, Antosha, about the late actor Anton Yelchin, was difficult to write about. I went through several drafts before I finally gave up. I just couldn’t pinpoint the exact tone, the exact way to translate the clear grief on display in the film; I didn’t want to put out less than what the film gave. Also, more than any film based around a famous figure, Love, Antosha affecting me deeper than I could imagine.

Recently, I re-read the review and have decided there’s enough there to do some light editing and revising. This is the result, a time capsule review of this aching documentary.
